History

Taraboom was incorporated March of 2003 in memory of Scott & Sheri's daughter Tara and was registered with Revenue Canada (June 2003).

Taraboom has the heart and desire to aid families whose children have been diagnosed with a life threatening illness.

Tara, at the young age of seven, sadly lost her fight to a terminal brain stem glioma (tumour). A terrible form of cancer with a very short to nil life expectancy.  Diagnosed in August of 2002, the Houston's were devastated with the life altering news as well were their family and friends.

Tara fought and survived her condition for six months, five months longer than the medical system had given her. With the vengeance of parents not ever giving up or accepting this terrible fate, to find a cure and save her life became the family's mission.

A promising and hopeful clinical trial was in progress in the United States, "Houstons go to Houston." It was the only hope they had for their daughter's survival.

A public appeal was made to help raise the funds for this very expensive treatment. The incredible communities in which the Houstons are so proud to call home, came through strong, and with great determination to help them help their little girl.

Sadly, too good too late, and with Tara's heart breaking passing, February 2003, some of the funds were left behind. These funds were put into Taraboom once registered, to be used in aid of helping other families as the Houstons were personally helped.

Taraboom then began as Her foundation, Her legacy, and Her families strength!
